Philosophy

Whether we evolved from monkeys, or God created us, nobody left us with a user manual explaining why we are born, what we are supposed to do while we live, and what happens when we die. Different schools of thought (religions) explain our existence using scriptures written by descendants or avatars of God. But that is just a matter of belief – many people will disagree they are truly written by one of God’s own.

What is not contested is the similarities of the content in the scriptures – that there is a divine power that has put us here to explore his creation and do good deeds while we are here. Good is going to send us to heaven and bad will send us to hell. Good always wins over evil in the end. Why the contrast of good and bad, day and night, smell and stench, beautiful and ugly, one might ask? According to the Bhagvad Gita, these are created so humans can know the difference between things.

If one does not believe in God, then also being a good human allows for the earth to be kept a better place for future generations. So really for the benefit of the planet, it is better if everyone is good! Life should be considered as a license to explore, experience and interact with the planet. It is designed as a journey that begins at birth, is lived out in time, and ends at death.

So what should we be doing while we are alive? At GoalQuest, we believe that the purpose of life is to make it worthwhile. This can be done by injecting meaning or purpose into our existence, and live it every day with moral, ethical and virtuous conduct. Set worthy goals, pursue interests, enjoy good relationships, find ways out of adverse circumstances, live through life’s random unfortunate or unwelcome moments and practice spirituality. We want our clients to experience life through vacations, parties, owning things, having novel experiences and enjoy pleasant, satisfying flashbacks of achievement. How to make it all possible is what GoalQuest is about.

If life is not about this, then what is life about? Some will say life is about nothing, and this thought drives people into depression and suicide. Life is also not about religion alone, because religions talk about destiny and unity with God at the end, which really cannot provide an evidence-supported basis for living life. Life is also not about happiness and success or collecting objects, because all of these are a result of “karma”, they are not an action or choice.

We believe that “Love, work and play”, or "Karma", is the basis of life. Most religions agree about this and most reasonable atheists too. At GoalQuest, the start of a great life journey begins with a self-assessment or "Big picture" overview of an individual’s life. We try to bring your life on the right track.

Amongst the full spectrum of qualities that can exist in humans, there are certain ones that stand out that are shared by all well-known faces in the history of civilization, religious scriptures and mythology. When we look at today’s famous scientists, businessmen, architects, engineers, doctors, companies and experts in every profession, they too have quite a few many things in common. God, in all his Avatars, is associated with certain things. What are they? If we identify those qualities and follow them, can we meet our goals and be as famous and successful and happy?

Many people will say that it is not possible to live today following the ideals of “great” people. Knowledge, kindness, goodness, fairness, love, wisdom, trust, respect, etc. are looked down upon as ways to certain failure. “Survival of the fittest”, “Everything is fair in love and war” and “A bad deed done for good purpose is forgiven” are considered to be the mantras of success. Being bad provides instant results and the shortest path is the only viable path for many. But that’s because the “achievement” yardstick used as a metric for life success is wrong. It sets people on a path of mindless hunter-gatherers that are stuck in survival mode. After achieving their goals by hook or crook, they are wasting their lives enjoying food, clothes and jewelry. Its not a meaningful life!

Our philosophy is that life is meant to be lived in the pursuit of meaningful things such as positive change for the world or ourselves. In doing so, one must be knowledgeable and righteous, and if one is not, then they should acquire that through counselling and training, because that will set them up for a great life! We think people should be aligned with the true purpose of life, by transforming their thinking about life and developing certain habits, adopting certain values or principles, and taking charge of their lives through certain actions.

Not having the right environment to use your knowledge and values simply means that one should leave that environment for some time, and find one where you encouraged and respected. People often say that this only happens in foreign countries – well, so we counsel you how to get there! The other place where these qualities are respected is the world of business, where you do better if you are honest, trustworthy, fair, etc! So we advise individuals on how to set up a business.

Our lives should be about performing “karma” to improve our own lives, and that of our families, friends and also the world. It should be about pursuing worthy goals - applying our skills to solve problems, becoming fiscally sound, explore and experience God's creations through tourism, sports and liesurely activities, and prepare for retirement. As we get older and wiser, we should perform acts of kindness and pay back to society by mentoring and donating.

Death can come at any time due to a random act of nature or just old age, so every human should think every now and that on their death bed, if they asked themselves if life was worth it - their answer should be "Yes!". If the answer is “No”, then they should seriously consider changing the path they are on.

Everyone should have goals. Here’s what a bucket list looks like for some people:

  • Have enough time in my daily routine so that I can sing some songs professionally
  • Become financially secure so I can take care of my parents, pay my children’s college loans and have money for retirement
  • Remain physically fit till the last year of my life so I can play golf, hike trails, and ride my bike
  • Travel to all continents, and all countries of the world
  • Meditate, and travel to all holy sites of my religion
  • Buy a sports car before the age of 40
